Sustainability, Social Compliance, Ethical Manufacturing and Human Rights
At Sockable Fundraising, sustainability is at the core of our mission. We have taken significant steps to ensure that our operations prioritise environmental responsibility. We have eliminated the use of single-use plastics in our product packaging, opting for more eco-friendly alternatives. Our socks are thoughtfully labeled with recycled card, promoting the principles of circularity as they can be recycled themselves. In an effort to minimise waste, we print our labels using black ink and responsibly recycle our cartridges through HP's Recycling Program.
We are dedicated to making a positive impact beyond our immediate operations as well. Any socks that fall short of our stringent quality standards are generously donated to Socks for Cooper, an organisation that distributes them to those experiencing homelessness. Furthermore, we have taken significant strides toward reducing our carbon footprint by transitioning from air freight to sea freight. This shift has proven to have a smaller environmental impact, and we anticipate sea freight becoming our primary shipping method by 2024.
We are proud to have a distributed workforce that operates remotely, embracing a flexible work model that substantially reduces our carbon footprint. Not only do we prioritise sustainability in our processes, but our high-quality socks themselves reflect our commitment to long-term use and durability. With 80% cotton content, our socks boast a plant-based, renewable fiber that outperforms synthetic alternatives in terms of sustainability. By designing socks that can be used repeatedly, we aim to contribute to a more sustainable future for the fashion industry.
We take great care in selecting manufacturing partners that align with our commitment to sustainability and ethical practices. To ensure compliance, our manufacturer undergoes an annual audit conducted by Intertek, a reputable auditing firm. The most recent audit was conducted on 28/2/23, and the results are valid for a period of 12 months. This audit covers various aspects, including Section 2, which verifies the total number of employees and confirms that they are employed under valid contracts, free from any form of forced labor.
Furthermore, our manufacturer proudly holds a Gold Certificate of Compliance to the Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) program. This prestigious certification is awarded to socially responsible factories in the sewn product sector that consistently meet or surpass international social compliance standards. You can find detailed information about this certification by visiting the following link: https://wrapcompliance.org.
By working closely with our manufacturing partners and ensuring their adherence to these rigorous standards, we strive to uphold the highest levels of sustainability, ethics, and social responsibility throughout our supply chain.
